Queenstown Bungee Jumping Prices 2026: All 4 Jumps Compared

Nevis, Kawarau, Ledge, Swing — exact prices, heights, and which one to choose

16 March 2026 Queenstown

Queenstown is the birthplace of commercial bungee jumping. AJ Hackett launched the first commercial jump at Kawarau Bridge in 1988, and the region now has four distinct sites — each with a different height, setting, and experience level.

Here are the exact 2026 prices and a full comparison of all four.

The Four AJ Hackett Queenstown Bungee Sites

1. Kawarau Bridge Bungy — The Original

Height: 43m Price: $205 NZD Location: Kawarau Gorge, 25 minutes from Queenstown

This is where it all began. The Kawarau Bridge is the world's first commercial bungee jump site, and jumping from it has a unique historical significance. You jump over the Kawarau River with optional water touch at the bottom.

At 43m, it's not the highest — but the setting (suspended bridge over a turquoise river gorge) is the most visually spectacular of the four. The jump is viewed by a large audience from a dedicated viewing platform, which adds to the atmosphere.

The experience: After a brief safety briefing, you step to the edge of the bridge platform. The 43m freefall lasts about 3 seconds. Optional water touch at the bottom. Recovery boat brings you back.

Best for: First-timers who want the original experience and iconic setting. The most "classic" Queenstown bungee.

2. The Nevis Bungy — The Biggest

Height: 134m (highest in New Zealand) Price: $275 NZD Location: Nevis Valley, 45 minutes from Queenstown

The Nevis is in a different category from the other sites. At 134m — suspended from a cable car over the Nevis River gorge — it's New Zealand's highest bungee and one of the top 3 highest in the world. The freefall lasts 8.5 seconds.

Getting to the jump point is part of the experience — a 4WD vehicle takes you along a rough mountain road to a cable car that carries you to the suspended pod over the gorge. The scenery alone is worth the price.

The experience: 8.5 seconds of freefall, multiple bounces, then winched back up to the pod. The view at the top of the bounce is straight down 134m to the river.

Best for: Those who want the maximum experience and aren't deterred by the price or the more intense preparation process. This is the one people remember for life.

---

3. The Ledge Bungy — The Urban One

Height: 47m Price: $205 NZD Location: Top of the Skyline Gondola, Bob's Peak

The Ledge is Queenstown's most accessible bungee — accessible via the Skyline Gondola (the gondola ride is included in the price). You jump from a ledge at 400m above Queenstown with the entire town, lake, and mountain ranges spread out below you.

What makes the Ledge unique: you can run, backflip, or jump in any direction. It's the most creative of the four sites and offers some of the most dramatic photo opportunities.

Night sessions available — jumping at night with Queenstown lit up below is a special experience.

Best for: Those who want to combine the gondola experience with bungee, night sessions, or those who want more freedom in their jump style.

---

4. The Nevis Swing — Not Technically Bungee, But...

Height: 160m (swing arc) Price: $220 NZD Location: Nevis Valley (same site as Nevis Bungy)

Strictly speaking, the Nevis Swing is a giant swing rather than a bungee jump — but it's operated by AJ Hackett at the same site and delivers an experience many find even more terrifying than the bungee. You're released from a platform to swing in a 300m arc over the Nevis Valley at up to 150km/h.

Best for: Those who want maximum adrenaline with a slightly different experience. Many visitors do the Nevis Swing instead of (or in addition to) the Nevis Bungy.

Tips Before You Jump

Book in advance. All four sites can sell out in peak season (Dec–Feb, July). Book at least 2–3 days ahead.

Weight limits apply. All sites have weight minimums (45kg) and maximums (140kg for most sites, 127kg for Nevis). No pregnant participants.

Photos and video. Professional photos and video are available at all sites — typically $60–$80 extra. Worth it for the Nevis especially.

Wear comfortable clothes. Ankle attachment is standard; shorts/leggings work best. No loose shoes, flip-flops, or dangling jewellery.

The fear is normal. AJ Hackett estimates that around 40% of participants experience significant hesitation at the edge. The staff are experienced at supporting nervous jumpers without pressuring them.

Cancellation policy. Weather rarely cancels bungee jumps (they're generally sheltered sites) but medical conditions on the day are accommodated with reschedules.
