Summer in Queenstown

Dec, Jan, Feb Queenstown22°C / 10°C15–16 hours daylight

Weather

Warm and long days with occasional rain. Evenings can be cool.

Summer in Queenstown is pure magic. The days stretch past 9pm, the lake is warm enough for swimming, and the mountains glow in golden evening light.

This is peak season for good reason — every outdoor activity is at its best. Trail running and mountain biking on the Queenstown Trail network, lake cruises on crystal-clear water, bungy jumping with perfect visibility, and long evenings at waterfront restaurants.

The Gibbston Valley wineries are in full swing, with outdoor tastings among the vines. The Remarkables provide a dramatic backdrop for everything from paragliding to picnics.

Book well ahead for accommodation and popular activities. Queenstown fills up over Christmas and New Year, but the buzz and energy make it worthwhile.
